#9 Beer Spot of Colorado Springs: Kinfolks Mountain Shop

Manitou Springs is a beautiful touristy town with very few places to get a hard to find craft beer. Kinfolks is one of those few places although you wouldn't think it at first. It happens to be a weird combination of Mountain supply store and tap room. So basically, you can get a North Face sleeping bag and a Pint of Left Hand's milk stout. Not a bad combination at all.

The Beer: Kinfolks Mountain Shop has about 7-8 rotating taps at all times. The beer is usually some of the more interesting fare that Colorado and a few other states have to offer. Usually only a few are from out of state but they are usually the harder to find ales and lagers that you can't go to a local liquor store to find. On Monday nights the locals typically have a beer tasting of beers brought in to share. It's not everyday in Colorado where you can be trying some New Glarus seasonals from Wisconsin followed by a rare Cigar City beer from Florida. A truly unique experience!

The Food: None to speak of but if you ask real nice Sherry might pop you some popcorn.

The Atmosphere: This is where Kinfolks Mountain Shop gains its reputation. Lot's of live music, professional and open mic nights, wonderful owners (Fred and Sherry), and great patrons who make it an enjoyable experience every time you walk in. There's definitely a feeling of belonging after you've left Kinfolks.

Overall:Kinfolks is a small mountain tap house in a small mountain town. If you really want to meet the locals or feel like a local this is the place to be. Makes a great stop after hiking the Barr Trail too.
