Beer Drinker of the Week #04

Beer Drinker of the Week is a new segment we're starting here at Focus on the Beer. This will serve as a way to show off all that delicious beer you've been drinking, or just simply show us what beers you enjoy on a normal basis. This series allows you to present your beer in an artistic environment, tell us what you think about the beers you're trying, what beer is in your fridge regularly, or tell a story about how you acquired a hard to find beer. You and your beers are the focus here.
Don't be offended, this picture was a joke. All bottles and cans were recycled
and Eric deeply respects the environment and landscape.

Beer Drinker of the Week #04: Eric Steen

Beers: A handful of Upslope Foreign Style Stouts, Ska Modus Hoperandi, Oskar Blues Deviant Dales, Coors Light, Schlitz, Buddha Nuvo, Phantom Canyon Methuselah Rookie Card, Timmermans Bourgogne des Flanders, Grant's Flanders-inspired homebrew, and Left Hand Smoke Jumper.

From Eric:
Grant invited me to be the 4th Beer Drinker of the Week and I thought it would be fun for our readers to see what my drinking habits are like so I agreed. To be honest, I may have drank more from bottles than normal, usually I like to go get a couple pints with friends but something about being in the spotlight made me drink more. I also didn't want to show off. I'm not the kind of guy who goes out of my way to procure hard to find things so I didn't really drink any of that, I just drank what I could get locally.

On a regular basis I have been drinking my fair share of Upslope Foreign Style Stout as of recent. I think it's a fantastic, good beer, nothing fancy, just really well made and easy drinking. I've also been trying to buy six packs and drink beers more than just once because sometimes I get tired of always having something new. When people ask me what beer changed my life I tell them it was Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale. It was the first beer that I could drink a whole pint of and before that I just couldn't really find any beer that I liked. Since then I've been a Mirror Pond fan and I will still on occasion buy a pack of it. I think six packs are good for those easier drinking beers and I think it's good to not forget about those less experimental beers that are just damn well done.

I did get to have a few fun larger bottles of specialty stuff. The Flanders and Flanders-inspired beers we tasted back to back the other night, the Buddha Nuvo was for a review on the blog, and the Lefthand was for fun. Also, thought I'd show you the Schlitz and Coors Light. I don't dislike all macro beer, as it turns out I'm a fan of Coors Light and I drink it on occasion. I don't think it taste like horse piss, I believe it's crisp and refreshing and tasty. So what!

You can propose to us which week you'd like to take, or we can pick the week for you and send you information and some basic directions. We'll try to post every Thursday (or so) the beers that one reader drank the previous week. We try to focus on the Colorado Springs drinkers but may be willing to expand, so email us!
