A few quick updates from the area!

We've been a bit slower than usual in making posts lately. I've been gearing up for Beers Made By Walking at Pikes Peak Brewing, one in Denverr, and one in Portland. Along with my other job, it's all been keeping me a wee bit busy. But I thought I'd share a few things that have come across the table lately:

- Elevation Beer Co is expanding

Elevation sent a press release out yesterday saying that are expanding. The release states, “'We are absolutely shocked by the local community support for our brewery and we hit our current max capacity within just 3 months of opening,' Exclaims General Manager and Co-founder Carlin Walsh." They thought they'd only produce 500-700 barrels this year but it looks as if it will be closer to 1,100. Apparently they're currently where they thought they would be a couple years out. This doesn't surprise me at all with such a great selection of beers. We're also seeing our other local breweries (Bristol, Trinity, Phantom Canyon, Pikes Peak, and others) all growing their production and distribution and we're seeing more and more breweries open up. The new expansion will allow a capacity of 4,000 barrels per year and they'll have about 100 oak barrels in their facilities, which is a pretty hefty sized barrel program. Nice work Elevation!

- Bristol Brewing goes to the COS Airport

I used to drive all the way up to Denver because flights were cheaper, and I have wonderful gas mileage in the car. But man that's a pain in the neck to go all the way up there, so I've stopped. Now, we'll all have even more reason to use our local airport because Bristol plans to open up a brewpub-type restaurant there. I heard about it through the Globe News Wire and there aren't a lot of details quite yet, but we'll make sure to keep you posted when we know more. Looks like it will open sometime before the end of the year too!

- Meet the Brewer: New Belgium

I'll have all the details for you next week but we'll be bringing down Eric Salazar from New Belgium for the next Meet the Brewer! This is pretty special as Eric is known for the special barrrel program that brought you some of your favorite New Belgium sours. We'll have a Lips of Faith series lineup too. It'll be at Front Range BBQ on Oct. 4th so get it on your calendar now!

Great Storm Brewing Oktoberfest

This is the same day as our own event, Beers Made By Walking, but it looks like they're at different times: Join Great Storm Brewing for our Oktoberfest party September 22nd.  Local bluesman BJ Estares will perform from 6pm to 9pm at our seasonal bash and we will unleash at LEAST three new beers that morning. Look for: · Red Oktober (An Irish/German mashup with aRussian name); Lightningstorm Wheat Wine (A big malty, citrusy ale crafted from white wheat, only one per customer!); Ralphie’s Red Rye (crisp rye fall ale with a caraway zing).
