Craft Beer Events Around Thanksgiving in Colorado Springs

There's a few things happening around the area related to craft beer so if you think you may want to get away from family for an hour, or bring them with you and show off your local beer scene...we've got you covered. Here's what we've found so far:

Wednesday - Nov. 21

Winston Smith's Barleywine Tapping at Trinity / 5pm-9pm

Trinity Brewing / 1466 Garden of the Gods Rd., COS
Trinity Brewing is putting a couple great Phantom Canyon beers on tap as a sneak peak for the release of their 2012 Barleywine release (that one will be at Phantom Canyon Brewing). The 2012 Barleywine (aged in Templeton rye whiskey barrels) as well as the last 5 gallon keg of the 2011 (aged in Stranahan's whiskey barrels) at 5pm at Trinity Brewing. Come try them side-by-side!

Venetucci Pumpkin Ale at the Blue Star / till it runs out
The Blue Star / 1645 S. Tejon, COS
The Blue Star is hosting a Venetucci Pumpkin Ale night (before Thanksgiving). This way, if families have out of town guests, they don't miss out. It's $11 per bomber (limit 2 per person), and Tres Bites is still in effect.

Cranberry Sauce Cyder Available at Rocky Mountain Brewery
RMB / 625 Paonia St., COS
Wednesday we will be doing our once yearly tapping of the cranberry sauce cyder. It is available in growlers to bring to your Turkey Day gathering.

Friday - Nov. 23

Chilly Water Baltik Porter Release at Trinity / 12pm
Trinity Brewing / 1466 Garden of the Gods Rd., COS
Chilly Water Not a common style of beer by any means, in fact this style of Porter is a Bottom fermented lager rather than an ale. Traditionally brewed in Northern Europe, this lager had to be strong to keep all the hearty northern souls warm. Again keep in mind this beer is brewed by Trinity and any beer we make will always have an added twist. The twist in this winter seasonal is the choice to age the beer on some rare Mexican wood known as Cauchalalate. This wood imparts a certain dryness accompanied by chocolate and coffee flavors. We think this unique wood is the perfect match for the style, and we know you will agree!

2012 Winston Smith Barleywine Bottle Release / 2pm
Phantom Canyon Brewing / 2 East Pikes Peak, COS
192 bottles of our 2012 Barley Wine will be available. This limited edition beer goes on sale at 2pm. $16+tax each. Limit of 4 bottles per customer. It'll also go on tap when we open that day. We brewed the beer January 2 and it's been aging in Templeton Rye whiskey barrels since February.

Old 23 Barleywine Release Party at Bristol / 5pm
Bristol Brewing / 1647 S. Tejon, COS
The aging process is almost complete for this year's batch of Old No. 23 Barley Wine! 2010 winner of the Silver in the Barley Wine-style Ale category at the Great American Beer Festival. An annual Bristol tradition, Old No. 23 revives an English farmhouse brewery practice of making a complex ale to set aside for special occasions. Our version, while painstaking and time-consuming to brew, rewards the connoisseur with an ale that has the depth and complexity of a good brandy or single malt scotch. Join us for the release party, Blue Sage Catering will be there with some delicious food pairings!
