All CO Women's Beer Tapping at Brewer's Republic / 4pm - close
112 N. Nevada, Colorado Springs
You might have read about this, last month a group of all women brewers got together and brewed a beer at Wynkoop in Denver. Brewer's Republic has gotten their hands on a keg of this beer. It's called Elegance and it's a Belgian Brown Ale. $2 from every pint goes to the Pink Boots Society.

Three Flowers Saison Release at Trinity / 5pm
1466 Garden of the Gods Rd., Colorado Springs
This is one of my personal favorite Trinity beers, to be released at 5pm. Here's info on the beer: Again going back to the earth with this version of our seasonal Belgian, we age this orange hued ale on the tops of three varieties of flowers. Belgian-style and only available as the weather warms and flowers begin to appear. As we welcome warmer weather with this beer, it's a definite Spring/Summer session Saison. 7.0% ABV

***UPDATE - Odell Beer Dinner at MacKenzie's Chophouse / 7pm
128 S. Tejon, Colorado Springs
Odell Brewing is rolling out a good looking beer dinner at MacKenzie's Chophouse. Looks like five courses with eight beers! One of Odell's brewers will be in attendance for an intimate dinner in a small private room. I don't know the pricing on this but you can call MacKenzie's directly for tickets or more info: 719.635.3536.

Kayaks on Snow / Monarch Mountain / 9am-close
This sounds like a very fun event at Monarch Mountain, the ski hill near Salida. Registration starts at 9am and costs $10. Sounds like their will be some good beer and good liquor. Presented by Ark Valley Libation Society representing craft beer and spirit makers from the Arkansas River Valley: Moonlight Pizza, Amicas, Wood's High Mountain Distillery, Deerhammer Distilling Company, and Elevation Beer Company. Check out the Monarch Mountain FB page for more info.

Prohibition Party at Bristol Brewing / 6-9pm
1647 S Tejon St., Colorado Springs
Celebrate the repeal of Prohibition with us 1930's style! Come in costume to our makeshift Speakeasy for an evening of 33 cent Yellow Kite pilsners, bathtub-fermenting beer, a costume contest (individual and group sizes), and all sorts of early 20th century antics. Feel free to wear anything circa the Roaring 20s and 30s, but you must be in costume and you must be able to say the password (which is "bootleggers and vamps") to enter. See you there!

***UPDATE - Ute Pass Brewing Opening! / Time: TBA (expect the evening for sure)
209 E. Midland Ave., Woodland Park
The newest brewery in the Pikes Peak Region, Ute Pass Brewing, is going to open on Saturday! That's so long as nothing goes wrong in the next 24 or so hours. Check their FB page for updates (linked above). While Ute Pass Brewing will not have any of their own beer available until sometime in June, they will have a number of taps, bottles, and some Colorado wine available as well. Come on out and support the growing craft beer scene!

Sun. April 7

Session Beer Day!
April 7th 1933 was the day Prohibition ended for beer drinkers, and America celebrated happily with oceans of beer...all of it 4% and less. AND THEY LOVED IT! That's a perfect day to celebrate session beer, great-tasting craft-type beer at lower alcohol that you can enjoy in quaffing volumes. Session beer is about enjoying beer for what it brings: great conversation with friends old and new, the glow of "social lubrication," and great taste without walloping doses of alcohol so you can enjoy yourself without getting knee-walking stupid drunk. Keep it under 4.5% (or 4.0%, if you want to be historical), and make it a session.

Secret Ingredient Brewer's Dinner / 6-8pm
1756 Lake Woodmoor Dr, Monument, CO
This event had to be rescheduled a few weeks ago during a big snow storm. We hope you’ll join us in the Barrel Room for this Brewer's Dinner Event. The night’s theme will be a secret ingredient included in each of five courses (revealed below)! Each course will be served with a different beer – including one special beer that will premiere that night! The cost is $55 per person, and seating is limited. Call to reserve your seats today! 719-208-4098

Menu:

  • 1st course:  Cocoa cured pork belly, organic vegetable giardineira, orchard ovens bakery bread, queso fresco
  • 2nd course:  Mole onion soup, chocolate crouton, chipotle crema
  • 3rd course:  Organic pea shoots, toasted pepitas, bouchon natural foods mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, chocolate balsamic reduction
  • 4th course:  Boneless beef shortrib, spiced carrot purée, shoestring frites, coffee porter demi
  • 5th course:  Peanut butter-truffle bar, toffee, chantilly cream, blackberry-saison syrup
