Manitou Brewing is Open!
It was the perfect escape from the typical March weather in Colorado. As people lined the streets for Manitou Springs' Carnivale Mardi Gras celebration, we decided to forego the madness on the street and step into the area's newest brewery.Manitou Brewing opened its doors Saturday March 1st and was met with a packed house almost instantly! They have two of their house beers on tap: a Belgian Blonde and a Pale Ale. Filling the rest of the taps is a wonderful assortment of different styles, from Bristol Brewing's Single Hop Simcoe to Avery and Russian River's Collaboration not Litigation ale. With a nice selection of wine and spirits as well as non-alcoholic drinks and gluten free beer choices, Manitou Brewing is sure to be the new hot spot in the days to come. Did I mention they have a kitchen too? The choices are pared down for opening day, with two salads and two sandwiches, but the portions are perfect and the price is spot on. The food is a no-frills approach, but anyone should be able to find something they like. Every single seat in the house was filled, and Manitou Brewing's servers were doing an excellent job keeping the suds flowing as the tables turned over. The interior is decorated with wood from both of the major fires in the past two years, denoted by cool little markings. We sat on a stool made from Black Forest wood, and there's a super comfy rocking chair made with Waldo Canyon wood. A special thanks to the Manitou Brewing guys for letting us come in a few minutes early before the crowds, it's such a wonderful space.
