Festival Season is Upon Us: Valentines Day and Beer Releases

Well I think we've all had enough fun at Anheuser Busch's expense over the past week or so, and now it's time to get down to the reason we all love craft beer: festivals. This Friday kicks off the 2015 Beer Festival season up in Woodland Park with the Winter Brewfest. It all goes down Friday the 13th up in Woodland Park at the Ute Pass Cultural Center. Discounted tickets are available here.

A little more than a week after the Winter Beer Fest, Bristol Brewing will be hosting their Firkin Rendezvous!
Bristol Brewing Company presents the 11th Annual Firkin Rendezvous, a cask ale celebration to benefit the Colorado Brewers Guild. 37 Colorado breweries will share cask conditioned ales of goodness. Cask conditioning of ales is a traditional British style of brewing that originated centuries ago when publicans lived above their pubs and made a life’s work out of tending their beers. Cask ales are fermented, dry-hopped, conditioned and served in a single cask, the ‘Firkin’ being the British cask size most commonly used. #gofirkincrazy

Now, VIP tickets have been long gone for awhile, but the fairly priced general admission are still available, but act fast. Head to this link for tickets.

Now that the big festivals that are coming soon are out of the way, there's some great beer things for you and your beer-loving-lover to do on or around this Valentine's day.Brewers Republic will be hosting two events back to back, starting with a special beer and chocolate pairing featuring Radiantly Raw Chocolate and Paradox Beer on Friday night. For $25, you get the whole experience...pretty cheap for a date if you ask me. Following that experience, on Saturday (the big day for those of you playing along at home), Josh and the crew will be tapping some awesome Fort Collins Brewery beers (FCB Double Chocolate Coffee, Double Chocolate Cherry, and Double Chocolate Nitro, paired with 3 great entrees), so if your dinner plans fell through, Brewers has you covered.
10974425_377136549125443_1255382340627529237_oSaturday is also the big day for the Colorado Collective's big Valentines Day party. From their event page: "It will be a great way to end the night. The ticket price of $15 gets you booze and chocolate pairings and savory finger foods. Did I mention BEER ALL NIGHT! PictureBoothCo will be there with a booth. Pianos will be played by Alex Koshak and rumor has it we may end the night with a lil hip hop dance party!"
I wanted to keep the booze vendors as local as possible and I'm excited to have the three I have chosen. Fossil was a recommendation by Radiantly Raw as they are pairing Chocolate and beer and have done collaborations in the past. Jacquie knows her stuff when it comes to what brings out different flavors in both booze and chocolate. Excited to see her in action. Axe of course I am bias[ed] because of my husband but the whiskey is so smooth and I am excited for them to share it with the community and Sette is a small batch winery out of Black Forest. Wonderful couple making some exceptional wine and I don't think to many people know about them. - Mundi Ross

Fossil Brewing is the beer sponsor, so make sure you grab your ticket and go support our local artisans! Tickets are here. Get them now!Local artist are participating in love notes and Ladyfingers Letterpress will be there hand lettering envelopes so you can get your card into the hands of your special someone.

Now to be completely out of order, this Thursday has two different beer releases! Both Bristol and Fossil are releasing some awesome beers, and if you're any kind of seasoned drinker, you can make it to both. The guys at Fossil (and gals!) are releasing their latest collaboration beer brewed with Radiantly Raw chocolate, their Achocalypse is an imperial chocolate blonde. Should be tasty.Bristol, on the other hand, is releasing the next in their lineup of Community Ales. This time around, it's the Smokebrush Porter, where funds raised go to the Smokebrush Foundation for the Arts. This year Bristol's touting the porter as mahogany-hued, with a malty and slightly smoky character. Should taste great as usual. That's all for now. I'll get back into the swing of event postings now that the holidays and new year jitters are gone. Cheers everyone and I hope to see you out there!
