Coming in 2020: Paradox Outpost, Mash Mechanix, Smiling Toad 3.0 and more!

Welcome to 2020, beer drinkers. 2019 was somewhat of a quiet time for our cities brewery scene, but if things go as planned our scene is about to explode.

Our fine craft beer community is about to welcome a few new establishments to the fold, and we’re gosh darn excited. The following is what we know about six different upcoming openings, with two of those being brand new breweries. It’s an exciting time for our beer scene, let’s jump in…

Mash Mechanix | 429 E Pikes Peak Ave

Downtown Colorado Springs will soon welcome another brewery to its ranks. Just around the corner from Brass Brewing, Mash Mechanix Brewing is slated to open up later on this year. They’re in the midst of buildout and getting their licensing all figured out, but we figured we’d get you all to check out their social media and give them a like or two. We’ll have an interview with the Mash Mechanix crew here in the next month or two as they get closer to opening and can pull away from the project for a second or two!

Smiling Toad Brewery | 2028 Sheldon Ave

We visited a month or so ago to see the progress that Biff and the crew at Smiling Toad had done, and they’re inching ever so closer to opening up. Just a few finishing touches and we’ll all be in there sipping on some IPa Freely, and it will be worth the wait. They’ve been brewing up a storm to make sure we all can enjoy their reopening, and we’ll let you all know when the time is right!

Paradox Outpost | 522 W Colorado Ave

As you may have seen, we helped announce that Paradox is bringing their wares to the big city! The Paradox Outpost will be open here in March/April and will allow us ‘Dox fans to get our fill without braving the canyon at night. The only thing left is buildout and final inspections.

Pikes Peak Lager House | 514 S Tejon St

The license application for Pikes Peak’s downtown project was approved on December 6, so expect to see some lagers hit the downtown scene at least by summer! We haven’t heard of any snags or issues to delay things, but we’ll keep you updated!

OCC Brewing | 2316 West Colorado Ave

All we know is that this brewery will be going into the newly renovated Junior Achievement building at in Old Colorado City (hence the “OCC” moniker). Our writer Josh Howard is working on the details and we should have more on their operation soon.

Whistle Pig | Location Unknown

Word on the street is that Whistle Pig will be opening up a new production facility on Templeton Gap. We’re not quite sure where it will be, but the rumors say it will be a bigger facility with more beer on tap. No word on if it will be a restaurant like their current facility, and these rumors haven’t been substantiated yet, but are worth mentioning!

Weldwerks Brewing

They’re coming. They just hit some snags. Relax and enjoy one of the other great beers in town.

Red Leg Brewing

Red Leg is hoping to open by this Fall, but based on how we’ve seen the pace that Regional Building takes with breweries, we’re figuring it would be 2021. Fingers crossed!
