Father & Sons Open now, To Start Brewing in March

The East side of Colorado Springs is gaining another brewery, with Father & Sons Taproom and Brewery open now and looking to start brewing operations in March of this year. Their taproom is open, but brewing in-house has not started just yet. We had a chance to connect with Paul Dunning, one of the sons in the operation over Facebook Messenger to find out more.

According to Paul, who also owns Private Label Distillery down the road from Father & Sons, the plan is to specialize in barrel-aged beers. Owning a distillery will provide easy access to freshly emptied barrels, so it will be super exciting to see the beers that Father & Sons produce. Brewhouse-wise, Father & Sons is only planning a 1 BBL brewhouse to start, but is also working with other producers in the area such as Dueces Wild to collaborate on barrel aged beers. Depending on how things go, expansion of their in-house brewing is already planned as well.

With their county liquor licensing as a brewpub, Father & Sons is tapping Abuela's Café (who also serves at Private Label Distillery), a local Mexican-style food truck, to provide food for patrons. Until the brewery is up and running, you can still visit Father & Sons, as they’re now open in regards to their taproom, with beers from craft producers like Modern Times, Epic, Bristol and others.
