Red Swing Brewhouse is Open Today!

Downtown Colorado Springs is excited to welcome Red Swing Brewhouse, opening this weekend at 521 S. Tejon St. in the New South End of Downtown Colorado Springs.

Named after a tree swing at the family home, the Red Swing philosophy is to create good, classic beer while connecting with community, inspiration and innovation. In a space formerly occupied by FH Beerworks has been transformed with additional outdoor seating, windows into the brewery operations and new interior design with the help of Architect Bobby Hill who collaborated with Red Swing’s Sheril Burns.  Brewing of specialty beers will be overseen by Alan Stiles, formerly of Phantom Canyon fame, who has 25 years of professional brewing experience.

While you may notice the footprint still mimics the old Fieldhouse layout, Red Swing has taken painstaking efforts to make the space their own. The brewhouse has undergone a major overhaul, with the overly-manual brewing system from FH being swapped out for a shiny more-automated brewhouse thanks to a closed Karl Strauss location in California.

One of the first things Red Swing did to enhance the brewing experience for their team was move the fermentation tanks from in front of the windows to the side wall. With the installation of a large window looking into the taproom, drinkers can now actually see Tejon from their barstool, which wasn’t ever an option in the old layout.

We believe that community relies on deep relationships and deep relationships create a strong bond. We’re excited to be part of the brewing community, and our community at large
— Claude Burns, owner and CEO

Seating wise, the bar has been expanded, adding 6 extra seats, and Red Swing has added a bench seat down the North wall, allowing for small and large groups to gather without changing things too much. A front and back patio provide ample outside space, should the weather allow it (today’s beautiful!).

Beer-wise, everything that’s on tap came from the older system, but nothing tastes off, which is a good thing! We tasted their Hazy, Pineapple Sour and the Vanilla Nitro Stout and would gladly drink any of those again if we had the chance. With 14 taps, Red Swing will have pretty much anything you could ever ask for.

Red Swing’s normal operating hours will be 2pm-10pm, Monday thru Thursday and Noon to 10pm on the Weekends.
