Trinity Brewing Expanding into Old Red Leg Location

Based on a recent application approval from the Liquor Licensing department of the Colorado Springs government, Trinity Brewing is opening up a second location in Red Leg’s old brewery at 4630 Forge Rd.

According to sources, Trinity plans to use the new location to house their distribution (and packaging we expect) as well as provide a space for brewer Jonathan Taylor to showcase some super-special releases. According to the application, it appears that Trinity will make use of Red Leg’s previous 10 bbl brewhouse and fermenters that currently reside at that space. Read more about that system here.

With space at a premium and Trinity offering more eating options (Friday, Saturday & Sunday Brunch) at their original location, moving the distribution part of the company to another location does sound like a logical move to open up more seating space for drinkers and diners.

As far as we know, the opening date is still TBA, but with how recently Red Leg was in that space, we expect Trinity to get things rolling pretty fast!

UPDATE 1:

We had a chance to connect with Matt from Trinity about his plans for the new location. Trinity plans to re-open the tap room at some point Mid-March, and have a more formal opening in April.

Speaking about how the space really caters to Trinity’s plans to expand their canning production,

Todd Baldwin had done a nice job setting it up for canning/ shipping, and our current location is a little difficult to increase canning production just due to location and size.

The former Red Leg space has undergone some cosmetic changes, but otherwise remains the same for patrons with the standard bar seating and the high-tops and low tables scattered throughout. Trinity plans to offer 14 taps, with a focus on their newer-era beers that head brewer Jon Taylor has created (Things like New Guy IPA, Orbital Warfare IPA, Wrath of God, Garden of the Hops Red, etc.) and to try to offer about 5-6 beers that are not available at the original location. There are plans to rotate through some of the Trinity classics like Slap Yer Mammy and others to make sure they’re “keeping it all in the family.”

Also, at the new location, Trinity plans to offer a number of beer-driven cocktails and soft drinks. With the lack of a kitchen at the new space, food will come via food trucks to start, yet Trinity hopes to incorporate some of their in-house pub fare at some point. The location also does have the patio out front and plenty of event space, so Trinity hopes to make that an integral part of their new Trinity Distribution Center & Taproom.

With Amazon building a new distribution center directly across the street, Trinity hopes that once weather warms it will be a welcoming spot for the neighborhood.

We’re super excited for Trinity and their new location and can’t wait to pop in when they do open later this Spring!
