Jameson Irish Whiskey and Great Divide's The Smoothness
This past week we were invited to the release party for 'The Smoothness'; a barrel aged black lager born from a collaboration with Jameson Irish Whiskey and Great Divide Brewing as part of Jameson's DrinkingBuddies series. The event was held at the Space Gallery in Denver. This is a great, open, venue; perfect for an intimate release party. Food trucks were on hand to provide tasty BBQ and ice cream to guests as well.I'm going to jump the gun and make this a brew love post, because I believe anyone will love this beer (barrel aged beer fan or not) and should make any and all efforts to seek out and try this magnificent specimen. The beer lives up to it's name. The Smoothness is velvet in a glass. The whiskey is present but balanced in the taste. You don't feel like you had a beer with a whiskey chaser, or that you had to go hunting for the barrel aged character, but rather a harmonized blend of the best of both worlds. I cannot recommend this beer enough! The Smoothness was released this past week at Great Divide's taproom, and will make some appearances in the next few weeks in a few taprooms such as Falling Rock in Denver (and will probably be seen around GABF time as well). If we hear of any local tappings we will keep you posted. Here are a few more fun shots of the evening:
