Axe and the Oak is expanding

Beginning in 2023, Axe and the Oak will be opening a massive new facility and moving most of their barrel-aging to Arkansas, the distillery announced in an email today. The Colorado Springs tasting room will remain and some spirits will be still produced in Colorado.

From day one, Colorado has showed up. You’ve loved us so well that we are ready to expand. We are so excited to announce that we will be launching a second distillery in Ft. Smith, 22x the size of our Colorado Springs operation.
— Axe and the Oak

The new 49,000 sq. ft. distillery will be located at 7900 Taylor Avenue in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on 5.32 acres of land that was previously part of Fort Chaffee, a since-closed Army base. The planned expansion is right in the center of a planned mixed-use historical district, with residential and commercial properties close by. Based on our approximations, this looks to be the new facility they’re moving to in Arkansas (screenshot from Google Maps):

Hopefully, this means that Axe and the Oak will be able to get up and running fairly quickly, since the building shown on Google Maps looks to be around the same size as the one they’ve announced. Congratulations to the Axe and the Oak crew for this incredible news, we’re excited to see more of their product far and wide!
