Beers Made By Walking Tasting #1

Beers Made By Walking Tasting Event #1
August 27th / 4-8pm
$5 Entry

Brewer's Republic
112 N. Nevada, Colorado Springs, CO

Beers Made By Walking will bring four unique beers to Brewer's Republic in Colorado Springs for a special one-time-only tasting. The beers were inspired by a series of hikes throughout the Pikes Peak Region and created by local homebrewers. August 27th marks the first of two tastings, with the second tasting happening in late October.

Beers Made By Walking is a project created by Eric Steen and sponsored by the Galleries of Contemporary Art and Rocky Mountain Brewery. Throughout the summer the public is invited to go on hikes in the Pikes Peak Region. A naturalist and a homebrewer also attend the hike and along the way they identify edible and medicinal plants. Those plants are then used in the creation of new beers. The beers at this tasting reflect the first half of hikes, which took place at Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Open Space and Palmer Park. The beers celebrate the Colorado landscape, providing flavors, aromas, and attributes that are indigenous to each hike and made by homebrewers who live in the area. Each homebrewer creates the recipe and brews it at Rocky Mountain Brewery. The ingredients are not foraged on the trails, they are sourced elsewhere, and the base ingredients have been donated by Winecrafters. Served at Brewer's Republic, the beers will be poured into 4-5oz samples on handmade sample trays.
