Focus on the Beer Top 10 Beer Spots in Colorado Springs: #6 Pikes Peak Brewing
Located in the small town of monument about 20 minutes north of Colorado Springs lies Pikes Peak Brewing Co., one of the newest additions to southern Colorado’s growing brewery list. This is a place you cannot afford to miss.
The Beer:
The regulars: Belgian golden, wheat, red, and a stout are impressive enough to keep you coming back, the seasonals are going to make you a regular. On tap right now is an Oktoberfest, green chili, and my personal favorite elephant rock IPA (a great example of a classic west coast IPA). All the beers here are definitely worth trying and like many places they offer a very reasonably priced sampler tray. They also just released a limited bottle of Summit House, a barrel aged imperial stout.
The Atmosphere:
Chris Wright, owner and head brewer, really makes Pikes Peak worth coming to. From the outside the building doesn’t look all that impressive but as soon as you walk in you’ll see why this is worth the drive. A beautiful rustic feel greets you as you enter the bar area with a great view of the impressive 10 barrel brewing system behind the bar. The place feels quite comfortable. A truly welcoming environment. There's also a great beer garden in the back with a firepit and benches
The Food:
Cheese plates and Panini’s make up the majority of the menu. Good, but not what you really go there for.
Selfishly, I wish this place were closer to downtown Colorado Springs. The drive can be a bit much for us downtown folks. However, it’s really easy to understand why they are doing so well and have become a successful brewery in just a few short months. In my opinion, if it weren’t for location this would have easily been closer #1 on the list.
Pikes Peak Brewing is located at 1756 Lake Woodmoor Dr., Monument, CO 80132.
