A Beautifully Beery Week in the Region

It's been a while since our region has had such an onslaught of beer happenings. Perhaps it's the weather? I know I'm pretty inspired to go out drinking now that it's hotter and I'm out and about more. So, many of these events are overlapping, so you'll have plenty of options for drinking great beer and no excuses for missing out! Next week will also hold some good events so be sure to check the local event calendar too.

Outdoor Brewer's Dinner at Pikes Peak Brewing / 6pm

You'll want to call and make sure there's still room for this one, because seating is limited. It's RSVP anyway. "Join us for an outdoor Brewer's Dinner.  Blue Sage chef, Greg Soukup, is grilling and will treat you to a meal that pairs perfectly with PPBC beer. Meet the Brewer: Elevation Beer Co. / 6:30pm

This is the latest in the Focus on the Beer series of Meet the Brewer events. This one will be one you won't want to miss. Elevation is a brand new brewery from Poncha Springs and has been getting a lot of attention. We're doing this one at a new venue (Front Range BBQ) with a new format. Here's a list of the beers that will be available: - Apis IV - 10.7% - Belgian Quadrupel; Cabernet Barrel Aged Apis IV; First Cast IPA - 6.5%; Mount Blanca - Belgian Saison - 5.5%; Imperial Saison - 8%. This will be great.

Celebrate the longest day of the year with us, Midsummer. We'll have live music by Mark's Midnight Carnival Show from 5-7 pm, and starting at 11am we'll be offering four new beers: Our summer seasonal, Midsummer Ale, a golden ale aged on lemon, lime and orange zest; Blue Spruce Juice, a dark ale flavored with fresh, hand-harvested Colorado Blue Spruce tips; Assistant Brewer Stephen Shelton's Dark Side Ale, a big malty dark English ale; and CAUTION: Brewing Co.'s Toaster Bat Black, a smoked, peated, robust porter.

Summit House Barrel Stout Release

We will release the second edition of the Summit House Barrel Stout. This beer has more subtle notes of whiskey and oak than the first batch. Each batch of this special beer will take on its own personality.

One Year Anniversary at Pikes Peak Brewing! / All Day

The Northern Colorado Springs Cycling group will lead two road bike rides ending at PPBC: a 6-mile route and a 23-mile route. This event is open to participants ages 14 and up. Please visit the website for very important details about this event! Anniversary Belgian IPA Release - This Ale combines the classic Belgian yeast profile with a strong dose of Amarillo hops. Family Picnic 4p-7p - The traditional gift for a one year anniversary is paper, but we're hoping you'll be okay with brats and live music! A brats dinner is on us this afternoon. Bring your family and help us celebrate! Live Music Saturday 7p-10p with Mark's Midnight Carnival Show on the new outdoor stage!

We wrote about this event here. The Rails and Ales Brewfest consists of a scenic train ride through the San Luis Valley to a remote mountain location, accessible only by train, where they'll have a festival with lots of vendors, beer, bbq and some country music. Tickets range from $39-$169 depending on the class or service and the departure location.

Battle of the Brewers: Final Round / 4pm sharp

Brewer's Republic / 112 N. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs / $5 cash
A Focus on the Beer event. We're now at the third and final round of Battle of the Brewers, the series where we give brewers 2 random ingredients and you decide, through a blind tasting, which beer is the best. The final two brewers are Shamrock Brewing and Lone Tree Brewing and the two random ingredients for their beer are: A bottle of wine per 5 gallons of beer, and the use of wood (but not oak). For $5 you will get a sample of each beer, one vote, a chance to win some door prizes AND a half pint of your choosing from two specialty kegs. It's going to be a good time, We'll see you there!
