A couple beer happenings worth checking out
I just wanted to update you all on a couple great looking beer things that are happening this weekend in our region.
Phantom Canyon Special Tappings
Phantom has three new beers on tap this week. Dampfbier Bavarian Mountain Ale is an old style of beer with roots from the Bavarian Forest that was warm fermented above 70 degrees to give it a phenolic aftertaste. Goose Rider is a West Coast Style IPA that has about 100 IBU's. And Wrong Trousers is an English Brown Ale with flavors of roasted mild coffee, caramel and toffee.
Chardonnay Barrel Aged Saison Man Tapping
Friday, June 29th / 5pm / Trinity Brewing
This spicy Belgian Saison is brewed with rye, oats, flaked wheat, and grains of paradise making a dry and dynamic malt character. Trinity aged this beer on oak chardonnay barrels to create a marriage with the wine and a noteable oak character. A light, barrel aged Belgian for the more complex palates. 5.8% ABV. This beer sounds awesome, I wish I was in town to try it.
Whiskey for My Men, Beer for My Horses
Friday, June 29th / 6-9pm / Colorado Springs Fine Art Center
A cool-looking fundraiser for the Fine Art Center. It includes country music, beer and whiskey tasting, and a Western-themed art show. Pretty awesome. More details are here.
Beers Made By Walking
Hikes are on Saturday and Sunday and might experience some problems due to the fire. The Sunday hike is full, the Saturday hike is almost full and will likely move to a new location because North Cheyenne Cañon is closed. We'll post photos from the hikes for those of you who can't make it on the hikes. We're doing two hikes, we have eight homebrewers, and we'll do eight beers that are 'beer portraits' of the landscape available in September. Cheers!
