719 Day Brew Fest Photo Recap
Yesterday's inaugural 719Day Brew fest turned out to be a great time. Despite what looked like a disjointed location in Rawkus, Nomi and the crew from 103.9RXP put on one heck of a festival. If any of you were at Haunted Brewfest last year, you'll understand that sometimes the musical acts can hamper a beer festival. To make sure nothing like that happened, 719Day Brewfest had only acoustic acts, and had none of the eardrum-breaking issues we saw at Haunted. If you've never been to Rawkus, its basically one open room with a bar on one side. All the breweries were crammed into a corner away from the stage, most likely to shield attendees ears from the music and allow for space to sit and enjoy the entertainers. It felt like two different events. Overall it was a pretty good venue, but at one point the bar opened up and a few attendees were ordering mixed drinks and bottled beers...a weird aspect that didn't really fit in with the 719Day theme. As for breweries in attendance, there were only 9 of our 20+ area breweries represented. Hopefully next year, Nomi can entice more breweries to join in! Most brought their usual beers, and it was nice to see Triple S, Gold Camp and Iron Bird pulling out some fun beers. Our highlights beer wise were the kumquat kölsch from Gold Camp, the Kefir Lime wit from Nano and the hop-adjusted Elephant Rock from Pikes Peak. Chris from Pikes Peak was in the zone and kept informing us about how they used the experimental hops from their High Alpine seasonal on the Elephant Rock, it finally sunk in after about the third time. Thanks Chris!Overall, the festival had a "party-like" feel, where everyone was relaxed and enjoying the beer. For those who missed out, there's already talk about where next year's will be held, so look for it to return![mc4wp_form]
