Brew Love: Melvin Brewing Hubert MPA

Starting this Friday, April 1, Melvin Brewing from Alpine, WY will be sending cans to Colorado. It's no April Fool's joke, Melvin's cans are headed elsewhere too, like Idaho, Wyoming and Washington, but not until later in the month! We have become "one lucky enjoyer."melvin-brewing-hubert-1So we got our hands on a few of Melvin Brewing's canned offerings to see if we too liked it in the can. They even provided a custom 2x4 branded 2x4 of course! After a quick and dirty analysis of Hubert the MPA, we have decided that we most decidedly like Melvin Brewing in the can. Thanks Patrick for the hook-up!melvin-brewing-hubert-3After winning two medals at the World Beer Cup in 2014, Melvin Brewing grew a bit too big for their upstart in the Thai Me Up restaurant in Jackson Hole, WY. Upscaling from their original 3bbl brewhouse, they installed a 30bbl facility on six acres in nearby Alpine, WY. After another good showing at the Great American Beer Festival in 2015, Melvin was awarded the 2015 Small Brew Pub and Small Brew Pub Brewer of the year.melvin-brewing-hubert-4Their good fortune is our gain. This beer is fantastic.

"If your beer is not madness, it's not beer"

If you're looking to switch things up and try something new, Hubert MPA is the way to do it. What's an MPA? A Melvin Pale Ale, that's what! This beer is more IPA than many IPAs you can find on the market, but due to it's big brothers 2x4 and Melvin, it's relinquished to the Pale Ale slot. Bursting with resinous hops with citrus and pine intermingling, I almost forgot about 2x4...almost. This beer is spectacular, hoppy, but also incredibly drinkable at 6% ABV. Compared to the other beers, it's almost a session.melvin-brewing-hubert-3If you don't see this on your local shelf come April, make sure to inquire—we need as much Melvin Brewing in Colorado as we can get, it's that good.Remember, as Melvin Brewing's cans say: "Don't hate, party."
