Little Machine’s not-so-little Anniversary Party

When we were last covering Little Machine they were just about 5 months old. We loved their beer and the taproom, so we were excited to join them for their first anniversary party last week.img_4048The anniversary covered three days with a wax party, beer releases and live music each day. Matt’s Snack Shack was there cooking up their amazing grilled cheeses. If you haven’t had their grilled cheese, get down to one of the breweries they visit and get one—or two.img_3904The first night of Little Machine's anniversary was a ski and snowboard wax party with all proceeds going to SOS Outreach. The volunteers at SOS serve at-risk youth, teaching them valuable life skills through outdoor learning, community service and peer mentoring. SOS has three Colorado locations, one in Seattle and one in California. According to their website, SOS has helped over 4,500 youth in the 2013-2014 program years alone. Currently, SOS is ranked 2nd in a Gatorade contest that will award the highest voted charity $50,000 to further help connect people through sports.img_3987 img_3967 img_3956 img_4060At the brewery, 20 beers were on tap including a Big Beer Flight. For the anniversary, Little Machine brewed Buzzer, an English-style barleywine that came in at 10.6% with some complex caramel and plum flavors— and was cellared for 11 months. They also had a version aged in Syrah barrels and another version aged in Henry McKenna bourbon barrels. We also tried the bourbon barrel aged Rodriguez that was aged in a Law whiskey barrel for 7 months. Our night started (and finished) with their Coffee Double brown ale which is only getting better. We're big fans by this point.Next time you’re in Denver check out Little Machine. If the 1 st anniversary party was any indication, Little Machine will be around for a long time. And that’s just fine with us—another Coffee Double please!
