New Belgium takes a Brewer on the Road

Next week, Fort Collins' New Belgium is sending a brewer to Colorado Springs for some special events! Thanks to New Belgium's Road Brewer event series, you'll get a chance to try some special NBB beers as well as hear from someone who had a hand in making them. Coming to us on the Southern Front Range is Ted Peterson. Ted is an Employee-owner and Brewer/Wood-aged Beer Specialist at New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins. A native New Yorker, he relocated to Fort Collins to take the Brewing Science and Technology course at Colorado State University, during which time he apprenticed and later worked at The Fort Collins Brewery. Ted is in his 5th year in NBB’s Brewing Dept. and was highly involved in the recent rehabilitation of thirty-two 100 bbl foeders. He currently acts as the Small Barrel Coordinator, and recently won a 60 bbl foeder on a bet by bowling a strike. He'll be down getting the royal tour of Colorado Springs thanks to NBB Ranger Travis Flett and New Belgium. Here's where you come in.Next Friday, November 11, head to Veterans Wine and Liquor for a tasting of sours with Ted. Look forward to all things funky at this tasting from 3pm to 5pm. After you've tasted your way through those, make sure you've already RSVP'd for New Belgium's special beer dinner at the Garden of the Gods Club. Not only will this beer dinner feature Ted's personal brew, Lightning in a Bottle, a tart berlinerweisse massively dry hopped with Mosaic hops, but you'll also be treated to the amazing food at the Club. Here's the menu:new-belgium-beer-pairing-dinnerSo if that looks tasty, grab a reservation by calling the Garden of the Gods Club at 719-632-5541.On Saturday the 12th, keep your eyes peeled for some fun New Belgium events around town as well. Word is, Coaltrain will be hosting a guided tasting with pallet cleansers around 3pm. Not sure how they're doing signups or if it will cost anything, but we'll keep you updated. They'll be tasting Transatlantic Kriek, La Folie, Le Terroir, Tart Lychee and of course Lightning in a Bottle. Then Saturday night is the event you really need to make sure you check out. Front Range is hosting an epic tapping of New Belgium sour beers starting at 6pm. They'll have NBB Love Cherry Felix, Blackberry Oscar, Oscar Worthy Coffee Nitro and a Peach Wheat Wine. We got a chance to try a few of these at the Lost in the Woods event earlier this year, and believe us, they're amazingly good.So that's it. You can run the whole gamut and attend all 4 events, or pick and choose, but you'll get many chances to try some hard-to-find New Belgium sours that mainly don't leave their facility in Fort Collins.See you there!
