Goat Patch to Release Pappy Legba Tonight

If you follow us on Facebook, we shared a pretty incredible thing last September.Trinity Brewing's founder Jason Yester had signed over the Pappy Legba trademark to Goat Patch Brewing. Darren Baze, Goat Patch's head brewer/co-founder was the originator of the recipe back when he worked at Trinity, and Yester figured it should be Darren's and Goat Patch's beer.Pretty damn cool.We stopped in yesterday to get the lay of the land and to admire the new bottle treatment for Pappy—now we can't wait to be there tonight. If you've had any of the iterations while Yester and his crew brewed it, you may know that the recipe changed slightly from year to year, but Goat Patch went back to the original recipe for their version. This year's batch of Pappy Legba features 524 lbs of cherries with about two-thirds being sweet cherries, so expect a strong cherry flavor and almost wine-like character from this 13.5% ABV Imperial Saison. Remember, it's not a sour in any form, so don't expect tartness other than from the cherries.Baze and GM Johannah Murphy told me that they hand-bottled, labeled and wax-dipped 20 cases for the release today—thanks to a 20-hour work day— and are excited to have everyone try it.Today at 5pm, Goat Patch Brewing company will release their first batch of Pappy Legba in 750ml bottles and on tap. Don't expect any crowlers or growler fills, as this is a pretty special brew. There's a 2-bottle limit, so plan on grabbing one to stash in your cellar.See you there!Goat Patch Brewing Pappy LegbaStyle: Imperial Cherry SaisonABV: 13.5%IBU: 9Available in 750ml bottles and on tap, limit 2 bottles per person.Check out more from the story at Rocky Mountain Food Report.
