A Peek Inside Red Leg Brewing's Huge New Brewery

Red Leg Brewing’s new purpose-built facility opens to the public next Wednesday, July 28, but we got a sneak peek of the inner workings this past Friday. It’s the first Colorado Springs brewery in our knowledge to be built from the ground up as a brewery, taking cues from airplane hangars for the general brewery aesthetic. The team at Red Leg has really put their best foot forward and it’s safe to say they have the best brewery set up in Colorado Springs at the moment.

Soon, the shipping containers that litter the outdoor area will have windows and doors installed, and different vendors will take up shop, ready to sell you wine, spirits, a burger or let you rent a bike. It’s an all-in-one type of experience that we’re excited to see take shape. On tap, they have ciders from C-Squared in Penrose and Trubucha Kombucha from Denver, along side Red Leg beers. With all the talk about local, we would love to see Nektr or CosBucha get some love too kombucha-wise, though!

Community cultures are maintained by small businesses ... we want to showcase the best the Springs has to offer, right here in one spot

The space is just amazing, with both an indoor taproom and a rooftop deck with its own tap system. For those who are less able than others, Red Leg has included an elevator to help expand the rooftop deck to anyone who wants to soak in the sun with their Space Force IPA.

Brewery-wise, Troy and the crew are soon going to be brewing on a 4 vessel 20bbl brewhouse, with an additional 7 bbl system for smaller batches. Everything is hard-piped from their hot-side room to the cold-side fermentation room, which means less work for the brewers lugging long hoses all over the place. Along with the fermentors, Red Leg also has two huge lagering tanks, which excites us the most. Drinking a crispy lager on that rooftop patio, basking in the autumn sun will be an experience to behold.

We hope to see everyone there next Wednesday, enjoy our photos:
