Meet the Brewer: Thomas Larsen of Ska Brewing

Colorado Springs, CO – We're bringing one of Durango, CO's finest to Colorado Springs! Joining us for our second Meet the Brewer event this summer will be Thomas Larsen from Ska Brewing. This one holds a place near and dear to my heart, as I credit time spent in Durango as my craft beer formative years. Ska Brewing has been doing it right for almost 19 years, and with recent expansions into California and Europe, they're showing little sign of slowing. On the eve of the Colorado Brewers Guild's Salida Rendezvous, we welcome Ska to Front Range BBQ to share some awesome beers and pretty much party hard. Hopefully we'll hear about their recent collaboration with Nynäshamns Ångbryggeri in Sweden, creating a white IPA with sea buckthorns that debuted at Craft Brewers Conference in Denver this April. They've been wildly successful with their Season Stout series, bringing different flavors of stouts to market with each changing season. Overall, It will be an exciting time, and I hope you can all join.

Here's what we'll have on tap:

Wipa SnapaSka's collaboration with Sweden’s Nynäshamns Ångbryggeri!White IPA Brewed with Sea Buckthorns and Juniper Berries. ABV: 6%

Mexican LoggerThe perfect Mexican Lager. Light and refreshing, it really hits the spot after a long day of brutal chainsaw work. ABV: 5.2%, IBU's: 16, SRM: 4

Buster Nut BrownThis Brown Ale has a touch of nuttiness provided by our good friends Mr. and Mrs. Victory and Munich Malt. The addition of Northern Brewer, Cascade, and Willamette hops smooth this beer out to create an incredibly drinkable Brown Ale. ABV: 5.4%, IBU's: 18, SRM: 18.5

Estival Cream StoutIt’s a grown-up version of one of your favorite childhood memories. It has a medium body punctuated by notes of coffee and dark chocolate. You can stop waiting for the ice cream truck, summer’s here. ABV: 5.8%, IBU's: 15, SRM: 41

and one of our other longtime favorites in bottles,

DecadentCitrus aroma prevails. Mounds of fresh hops and caramel malts explode upon the palate. Originally produced to celebrate our tenth year in business, this Imperial IPA hides nothing of our tendency toward self-indulgent behavior. ABV: 10%, IBU's: 80, SRM: 14
