Fossil Brewing Unearthing on Oct. 24

With 5 beers on tap and Boston Round style "caveman canteens" available, Fossil easily has something for everyone. It has been nearly a year since we first saw the words "Fossil Brewing" appear on the marquee above Suite 1 of the Ore Mill Road complex near Rudy's BBQ. Rich Benson, Josh Bye and Graham Clark have stopped their figurative dig and Fossil Brewing is ready to be unearthed. It's a great time for the Fossil Crew, which includes Rich's wife Katrina and Josh's wife Colleen as well as a couple of very new young ones! We witnessed every stage of the development, from chalk lines on the concrete, to their cooler build, to picking fresh hops in the back with only portable lighting to light our way, and it is amazing to see where they are now.Fossil-Soft-Opening-3044We had the absolute pleasure to enjoy Fossil's newly completed space with some friends and fellow beer fans this past Saturday, and are happy to report that their tasting room looks pretty awesome. After jumping through more hoops than we've seen in recent years, they finally were able to put the finishing touches on their masterpiece. You would think that our local government agencies would be welcoming breweries with open arms, yet our Regional Building Department seemed to throw every wrench in the tool box at Fossil. It is a true testament to Josh, Rich and Graham's drive, not only to persevere through one obstacle, but to do it over and over, month after month. This Friday is truly a celebration of their tenacity and belief in the final vision. Congratulations Fossil!Fossil-Soft-Opening-3063They'll launch with 7 different beers on tap: Megalodon Blonde, Mammoth IPA, Buried Brown, Hair of the Hound saison and Evolution Ale plus two more to be announced later on. We were particular fans of the Buried Brown, which showcased a nice malty backbone that finished a bit sweet, but was balanced throughout. Their Mammoth IPA and the Hair of the Hound saison were easily the crowd favorites that night, and we're excited to see where they go from here. With a solid wraparound bar, there is ample space to belly up, with hightops and another mini-bar area to help with overflow. The guys have really done a number with the space, and it has a very comfortable feel to it.Fossil-Soft-Opening-3052We hope to see you all make it out on Friday, October 24th! The party goes from 2pm until 10pm![flexiblemap address="2845 Ore Mill Road, Suite 1, Colorado Springs, CO" region="us" directions="true"]
